Justin Bieber Signs Canadian Singer Carly Rae Jepsen to Record Deal (VIDEO)

(MuchMusic)

Justin Bieber isn’t just making 6-year-old girls unbelievably happy these days.

He’s also making 26-year-old Carly Rae Jepsen’s dreams come true by signing her to a new record deal.

Bieber made the announcement, via video, during a segment Tuesday on MuchMusic’s “New Music Live,” which featured Jepsen as a guest.

The pop superstar described hearing Jepsen’s song “Call Me Maybe” and immediately falling “in love” with the track.

“I just wanted to tell everybody that we signed her,” he continued, “so everyone go check her out, a song called ‘Call Me Maybe,’ and she’s going to blow up.”

Jepsen, whose album Curiosity came out on Tuesday, will now work with Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun at Schoolboy Records.

Braun also called into the show, and shared praise for both Jepsen and Bieber.

“The last time I worked with a Canadian, it worked out really, really well,” he said jokingly.

Now Braun and Bieber are looking to bring Jepsen out to Los Angeles to work on an album – and maybe even a collaboration with Bieber himself.

Justin Bieber: Book Deal Signed For Second Memoir

Some would say 17 is too young to write a memoir. Everyone would say 17 is too young to write a freakin' sequel to your memoir, but that hasn't stopped Justin Bieber from signing a lucrative book deal with HarperCollins to deliver a second book about his life.

Justin Bieber: Just Getting Started is scheduled to hit bookstores in September, and, like First Step 2 Forever: My Story it will be "written by" Justin only in the loosest sense of the term, (Basically, he'll spend some time in the same state as the guy who's actually writing it.) But that won't stop fans from plunking down $30 for the hardcover in record numbers, just as they did for the Biebs' first tome.

"Being able to share my story with my fans through these books is an absolute privilege," J-Bieb told Us Weekly. "I can't wait to show them more about my life on tour and in the studio in this next book." Yep, two bestsellers before he can legally vote. Suck it, JD Salinger!
